So, you’re thinking of outsourcing. Great! However, let’s get a few things straight from the get-go. Outsourcing is not some ‘magic black box’ that you send your work to, and simply comes back complete ready for review.

There are several ways in which you can outsource, and all of them involve building a relationship with your outsourcing staff. Think of outsourcing as hiring another team member, that just happens to live overseas.

Different outsourcing providers offer different outsourcing solutions from hiring individuals as new employees dedicated to your specific firm, to a more general service where your work is handled by a team of people. Either way, your training and support are needed (in some varied capacity) as they know you would like your work done in your way, using your software, processes, and procedures.

Like onshore staff, you will need to onboard, train, keep staff up to date on your firm’s changes in processes and procedures. You can even include them as part of your team meetings, CPD sessions and the like. Outsourcing is not out of mind, it is very much about the professional relationship you build, and the better that relationship the more successful your outcome will be, as an outsourced staff member is a human being, just living in another country.
